1228 Parkway Art Space is the studio home of
Julie Schumer and James Koskinas.

Schumer’s paintings are at once edgy, bold and dynamic yet atmospheric, with great depth and mystery, integrating appearing and disappearing lines, shapes and color.  Schumer is a classic abstract expressionist, painting spontaneously, letting each stroke guide her to the next.  Although inspired by her surroundings her work is an excavation of her own internal landscape.

Koskinas , a long time painter of expressionist human portraits, as well as horses with riders, showcases his new horse “portraits” reflecting his unending fascination with the shape of the head of a horse and its many expressions, along with his new series of horses in motion.  These striking paintings show Koskinas’s unique and diverse expression of the horse form.
