Workshops

What better place to immerse yourself in your artistic process than Santa Fe, New Mexico, one of the great art capitals of the world and a place of great physical beauty, culture and inspiration.

1228 Parkway Art Space offers expressive, non-objective painting workshops throughout the year taught by Julie Schumer, James Koskinas and various guest artists. These workshops, held in our large, comfortable studio,  are designed for participants to take risks and loosen up while developing and strengthening their skills, creative intuitive intelligence and their own authentic voice, thus enhancing their work.  The 2020 calendar will include workshops on beginning non-objective painting, mark making, and our ever popular Paint Big! and Boldly Abstract.

Private custom individual and group workshops are available all year round.  Contact Julie>> to inquire as to availability and pricing for you or your group.  Half or full day (6 hour) workshops are perfect for those wanting to get a taste of non objective painting, while two and three day group or private classes serve those who cannot make a regularly scheduled workshop or who want a deeper immersion or who have specific things they want to work on  Based on what you would like to accomplish, Julie will plan a curriculum tailored to your goals and level of experience.

Julie’s workshops are amazing.  She helps you unlock your spark and push past your boundaries into new territory.  Loved every minute.

I did Julie’s Abstract workshop in May and had the most wonderful time. The space was an artist dream workspace. She introduced us to new tools and new techniques which helped push me to explore my art making in a new way.
Julie was an informed and encouraging teacher. And a pleasure to get to know better as I have long been an admirer of her work. I recommend her workshops with highest acclaim!
